BuddhaRocks

Married dude from Michigan. I like good food, good beer and a wide variety of music. I write poetry/prose, take photos (which I post on occasion) and just goof around. I sometimes like to re-post things in a slightly-altered (and hopefully comedic) manner, just to see if anyone notices.

People don’t make life difficult. Life makes people difficult.

“T-Rex” High-Five: Two people tuck in their elbows, lean forward until they’re butting heads, then flail their too-short forearms around.

Wear your crazy like a jersey
Support your team with pride
Show the world a new way to see
‘Cause you’e got nothing to hide

The ones who roar the loudest are usually the most scared.

Life just keeps on changing. There are cyclical changes and there are linear changes. They combine to make each ‘now’ a unique event.

Life’s too serious to be taken too seriously.

What’s truly ‘weird’ is that everybody is weird, so weird IS normal. It’s ‘normal’ that’s the facade.

I’m going to worry less about continually striving to be a better person, because some days you just get tired of always walking uphill.

The first one to make the choice usually wins.

Perhaps, when we die, we wake up in some familiar someplace else and realize that this life was but a dream.

If you can’t reach them, you can’t teach them.
If they can’t reach you, they can’t teach you.

I never make misteaks.

Love is like a cake. Common interests are the cake. Differences are the frosting.

Faith is the logical equivalent of crossing your fingers.

The people most outraged about the NSA snooping are the same ones who mistakenly assumed we had any real privacy in the first place.

The obvious response to NSA snooping is for everybody to keep a closer eye on government and those who help them do it.

NSA = No Secrets Anymore (Unless you’re the government, of course!)

When in doubt, err on the side of liberty.

Life is too short. By the time you’ve got it all figured out, you’re too old to do anything about it!

When in doubt, err on the side of liberty.

Haiku Koo-Koo

Dinner on the grill
Sip beer, watch the bird feeder
Time to flip the steaks

Dewy backyard grass
A thousand little suns wink
A rabbit - no, two

Early spring visit
Fall’s brown woods still lingering
Yellow trout lily

Planting my garden
New green with a flash of red
Mister Cardinal

Darting garter snake
Quick-reverse under a log
Never got a shot

Little swamp reborn
An isolated wetland
Wary nesting ducks

I step gingerly
Watching for wildflowers, but
A man’s gotta walk

New growth in the woods
Wee green fiddleheads uncurl
Tiny flowers cheer

Buzzing bumblebee
Busily investigates
I just let him bee

Found white trillium,
Spring beauties, lady slippers,
But no trout lilies

Yodeling yokels
Peculiarities of
One’s proximity

Watch life and wonder
Forget to write it all down
Then, haiku happens

Sudden thunderstorm
Black clouds gush, thunder rumbles
Feeling mortality

Hot, hazy morning
Air conditioner buzzing
Like a cicada

Delicate green vine
A tender tendril reaching
Life growing in spring

It must be springtime
See all the haiku blooming
Life fresh new flowers

Dark may afternoon
Rainstorm rolling in windy
Sideways helicopters

May sun finally
Yesterday’s grey clouds replaced
By clear blue heaven

Will it rain today?
Will the sun shine? I can’t say
Yes, uncertainty

May’s muggy forest
Mosquitoes swarm unwanted
Like paparazzi

Torrential downpour
Metal roof amplifying
Rain like a freight train

The delicate breeze
Sets tiny white parachutes
Adrift like my dreams

A young fresh soldier
Marching in colorful stripes
Ready to rank-up

Slowly emerging
Brightly dressed for the spotlight
But still shy of it

Been gone all winter
Patiently waiting for warmth
Spring salutation

A friendly daisy
Reminds me to smile because
Nature is my friend

This spring has been gray
Finally, a bright morning
Then, found a dead bird

Mister and Missus
The Cardinals come to call
Morning bird feeder

Swallows turn and dip
Swift aerial acrobats
Never touch water

Mosquitoes hum-buzz
Dragonflies won’t wait for pics
Woodpeckers staccato

Fuzzy baby geese
March with momma and poppa
Waddling parade

Empty bird feeder
Birds checking, ever hopeful
Rabbit just eats grass

Halcyon

I miss the halcyon time of my youth

Spending entire days gone fishing

In my boat, afloat, with nary a care

But mostly, I miss the not wishing
